Campaign research at Latenta

Everything that comes before the campaign goes live, and every number that tells you whether it is working. Years out or months out. We stay on the evidence: tracking wave after wave, telling you what has moved and where the message needs to change, until the votes are counted. Alongside your team, never instead of it.

What we do, and where we stop

Latenta

  • Electorate research
  • Segmentation and predictive modelling
  • Strategic analysis and recommendations
  • Campaign tracking
  • Evidence interpretation and refinement

Activation partners / client team

  • Creative production
  • Media buying
  • Digital activation
  • Field operations
  • Day-to-day campaign execution and tactical advice

At the handover we introduce partners, help you brief them and choose between them, and then keep doing what we were doing: measuring, and telling you what the numbers mean.

One evidence system. Clear responsibilities.

Latenta does four things. Strategic research: the diagnostic, the electorate study, the segmentation and the predictive models. Strategy advice: positioning, message architecture, manifesto and the campaign roadmap. Tracking: waves that run to polling day and tell you what is actually moving. Refinement: what the tracking says the message should become. That is the whole of our scope, and it does not change once the campaign goes live.

No years to spare? The 66-day sprint.

Context

A brand-new grassroots movement facing a snap mayoral election in a European capital of 1.6 million.

Research

One strategic poll, two trackers and three target segments.

A precision digital campaign across Meta, Google and TikTok was run by Latenta’s activation partners.

Timeline

66 days

The existing campaign-page account reports a 66-day engagement.

Outcome

7.1% → 17.2%

The campaign-page account reports support moving from 7.1% to 17.2% in 66 days, at €0.05 per vote, a sixth of what the winner paid.

In politics, everyone claims to understand voters, but your research actually proved it – turning our limited resources into the most efficient campaign our capital has seen in years.

Campaign client, European capital

Data without a story is noise. A story without data is a gamble.

How the model fits together

Research, modelling and measurement in one evidence system.

Polling alone

Shows what people said. Turning those findings into a complete decision framework also calls for modelling and interpretation.

Creative alone

Can produce powerful communications. Research helps test the strategic assumptions on which that work depends.

Internal team alone

Brings political and operational knowledge. Independent research infrastructure adds a way to test assumptions and monitor change over time.

Every engagement is bespoke. The candidate and the general secretary keep command of politics and operations. Latenta’s data scientists develop the evidence base and models; its strategists translate findings into positioning, message architecture and a campaign roadmap.

Recommended partners produce the work and make the day-to-day tactical calls with your team. Latenta continues to measure and interpret the evidence.

Research stays research.

Participants come through third-party research panels. Latenta’s stated campaign-research process holds no respondent names, telephone numbers, email or postal addresses. Nobody is targeted with a campaign message because they answered a survey; activation partners work from aggregate segment models rather than respondent contact lists.

Research respondents, research datasets and aggregate models remain distinct from downstream campaign activation. This separation keeps research participation distinct from campaign messaging.

Five workstreams

  1. Campaign diagnostic

    Starting position and research requirements

An audit of your assets, vulnerabilities, data infrastructure and organisation, plus a quantified read on opponents. Establish the starting position and the evidence available before research is scoped.

Output: A research diagnostic and an agreed starting point.

  2. Electorate research

A working model of the electorate

Large-scale behavioural surveys, debate groups, auto-ethnography, media and lifestyle mapping. Build a model of who the electorate are, what they believe, what moves them and how they are likely to vote.

Output: An electorate study, segmentation and predictive models.

  3. Strategic planning

    Research translated into recommendations

Translate research findings and models into strategic recommendations: positioning, message architecture, manifesto and a campaign roadmap. The evidence connects the electorate study to the plan that your team and activation partners take forward.

Output: Strategic recommendations and a campaign roadmap.

  4. Handover to activation

    Clear responsibility for execution

Production houses, media buyers, digital teams and field organisers take responsibility for execution and day-to-day tactical advice. Latenta recommends partners, helps you brief and choose between them, and joins reviews with tracking data in hand.

Output: A research-led handover and partner brief.

  5. Tracking & refinement

    Repeated waves, interpretation and review

Trackers and a live campaign dashboard feed the weekly review: what has moved, in which segment, and how the evidence has changed. Latenta interprets the tracking and refines strategic recommendations. Day-to-day action remains with your team and activation partners.

Output: Tracking waves, a research dashboard and ongoing interpretation.
